Urgent care centers are a great option for when you need prompt medical treatment for non emergency care.*
Urgent care centers can treat common problems like sprains, animal bites, ear and throat pain and more. They offer convenient hours, including extended evening, weekend and holiday hours. You just walk right in — no appointments needed.
To find an urgent care center near you, log in to your Aetna member website.
If you have questions before you go, call our 24-Hour Nurse Line at 1-800-556-1555. While only your doctor can diagnose, prescribe or give medical advice, our nurses can provide information on a variety of health topics.
*It isn't always easy figuring out what's a non-emergency versus an emergency. So if you have any doubt, play it safe and head to your local ER or call 911.
Preauthorization or precertification* is an important process. It is approval a person gets for care before receiving the care. This helps people know if the care is covered by a health plan. People should check with their plan to see what kind of service needs this approval.
This can also be called:
- Authorization
- Certification
- Prior authorization
*In Texas, this approval is known as pre-service utilization review and is not verification as defined by Texas law.
Please visit the Find a Form page on Aetna.com and click on "Medical, dental & vision claim forms". There, you can download a claim form and find instructions for submitting a claim.
